Burger King president reveals his favorite dish — and confesses to menu item he won’t eat: ‘We can do better’

His Royal Highness has entered the chat.

Burger King President, Tom Curtis, has issued a ruling on his favorite — and least favorite — menu item. The burger master dished with The Post and left no crumbs.

Curtis became the chain’s president of both the US and Canada back in October 2021. Before getting crowned, he was the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing restaurant development and operations.

When he’s not beefing with his heated rivalry, McDonald’s, Curtis spends his days perfecting Burger King’s menu for his royal subjects to enjoy.

The chain recently rolled out a new and improved take on the classic Whopper. And this time, the guest got to do the honors.

The Home of The Whoppers put the guest on the proverbial grill as it recently added a feature to its website where customers can create their own Whopper and then submit it for a chance to get on the menu. Hence, the Loaded Jalapeño.

Just in time for summer, the new Loaded Jalapeño Whopper is beefed up with 4.4 ounces of 100% flame-grilled meat and crowned with crispy, pickled jalapeños and a creamy jalapeño sauce. It’s also garnished with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes and American cheese.

The boss’s favorite, however, is crafted around simplicity. Curtis told The Post the classic Whopper with all of the fixings — lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, ketchup and mayo — will always be his go-to.

“The flame-grilled taste can’t be beat, and it’s the perfect burger just how it comes,” he added. It’s no shock that it’s also their top-performing menu item across the board.

But it’s not all Whoppers and sunshine. The big boss confessed that one menu item he will not eat anytime soon is their nuggets.

“We can do better, and we will. I want a meatier, crispier nugget and sauces that make my taste buds dance. The team is on it,” the king spilled to The Post.

Customers want that too. For years, diners have dished on social media, begging the burger behemoth to fix the recipe.

“Burger King should be ashamed of themselves for these nuggets. Nuggets just looking perfect until you bite into one, and it’s artificial mush meat. You can at least take the word chicken out of the title cause ain’t no chicken in there,” an unhappy Facebook user wrote.

Another fumed, “These chicken nuggets are an embarrassment to fast food everywhere — zero flavor, no crunch, ice cold.”

The king promised The Post he hears — and agrees — with the feedback, so stay tuned.

One menu item Curtis wishes would return is the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. “It’s hard to find a really good one right now!” he mentioned.

Despite being at the helm, the joint axed the item back in 2019. In fact, the chain could never fully get a handle on it, as over the years several variations have been offered.

Over the decades, the grilled chicken sandwiches have come and gone, with the most famous try in 1990 dubbed the BK Broiler. The item was a big deal as it was basically the first major fast-food grilled chicken sandwich, famously “flame-broiled, never fried.”

In 2005, the King took another stab at it with the TenderGrill, a larger all-white-meat chicken breast, with mayo and lettuce on a seven-inch bun. But alas, it too was short-lived. Then came the Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken Sandwich in 2019.

This time, customers got a marinated and grilled chicken breast with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and honey mustard, all served on a potato bun. Spoiler alert — it didn’t last.
