Bardella in Poland: We will win in 2027 and shift course in the EU

Jordan Bardella, leader of France’s National Rally and the frontrunner in presidential polls for 2027, vowed on Friday to win the French elections and mark a shift in the course of the European Union.

Bardella said this on the second day of his two day visit to Poland where he met with right-wing and nationalist leaders ahead of his country’s presidential elections next year.

His visit to Poland also comes as Poland is preparing for its own parliamentary elections, set to take place next autumn.

“I am convinced that over the course of the year 2027, if our two movements achieve electoral victories, we will have the opportunity — because France and Poland are two major powers in Europe — to redirect the way the European Union operates, as I often say, to change everything without destroying anything.” Bardella said.

He added that he would like to “put the Commission and the EU back at the service of the nations and no longer the other way around”.

Bardella: we share same vision with our friends here in Poland

During a joint press conference after meeting Jarosław Kaczyński, National Rally leader Jordan Bardella stressed:

‘Over the past 48 hours I have had numerous meetings in Poland at the invitation of our European allies, including with the office of Karol Nawrocki, as well as Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński, who invited me and my colleagues to Poland,’ Bardella said.

He thanked Kaczyński for the initiative to visit the Polish-Belarusian border, which is also the EU’s eastern frontier. ‘There I saw a wide range of measures to curb migration pressure that were introduced when Law and Justice was still in government,’ he added.

The French politician noted that France and Poland have been friendly countries for a very long time and that their ties had recently been strengthened further – both economically and militarily, including through the signing of a mutual assistance clause.

‘We share the same vision with our friends here in Poland; we uphold the same values, for example, when it comes to resisting migration pressure. At the same time we take a dim view of EU projects such as the Green Deal, which harms our industries and our farmers,’ Bardella said.

He also recalled that the ECR Group (European Conservatives and Reformists) and Patriots for Europe had jointly opposed the MERCOSUR agreement, which he said was detrimental to their countries and their farmers.

Kaczyński: we are heading for victory

On Jarosław Kaczyński’s part, the leader of the Law and Justice party wished Jordan Bardella victory in the French presidential election, underlining how much it would matter for the whole of Europe.

‘This will be a decisive step towards building in Poland and across Europe a coalition capable of changing the EU. We share the view that the EU should continue to exist, but that it should serve the nations – their freedom, sovereignty and development. Today – we have to say it plainly – it does not. And this is a state of affairs that has to end, and there are many signs that this moment is approaching. It is a very optimistic vision, but it is now becoming realistic. To a large extent it depends on how the situation develops in both our countries. Hence the huge importance of this visit and of these talks,’ said Kaczyński.

Kaczyński added that a Bardella victory in the upcoming French presidential election ‘would be a very important event for Europe’.

‘And the chairman, as president of the French Republic, will be an important figure not only in France but also in Europe, indeed in the history of Europe. But in the good course of history, not the bad one – which is what we are witnessing at the moment.’

Kaczyński repeatedly stressed the overlap in their views: ‘Europe needs to change, and there we are truly in agreement; it needs to be strengthened – there we agree; we need to draw on values – here, on some issues, our parties differ, but that in no way hinders our cooperation.’

The Law and Justice leader also drew parallels between the experiences of the two parties: ‘The experiences of our party and of our friendly party are similar in that they have been difficult. We have had a hard time; we have been attacked from all sides by very different methods, often very brutal ones. That resilience will certainly be useful to us, because the battle ahead of us will be very tough, but I am convinced that in the end there will be victory.’

Visit to the Polish-Belarusian border

On his account on the X platform, Bardella wrote: ‘By defending one of Europe’s external borders, Poland is in fact defending the whole of European civilisation, protecting our values and our identity in the face of one of the greatest threats of the 21st century. If Europe’s great powers do not awaken to the existential danger posed by mass immigration, we will disappear,’ Jordan Bardella declared on X.

The French politician, together with a delegation from the Confederation and the National Movement, including the parties’ vice-presidents Michał Wawer and Anna Bryłka, visited the Border Guard post in Kuźnica Białostocka.

As noted on the National Movement’s social media accounts, the talks focused on the everyday challenges faced by officers on the eastern border.

Anna Bryłka, vice-president of the National Movement and an MEP who accompanied Bardella, wrote on her X account:

‘Poland remains a target for illegal migration. The barrier on the border with Belarus has limited the possibility of crossing to the Polish side, which is why the route has shifted through Lithuania and Latvia. Since the beginning of 2026 the Border Guard has transferred more than 550 migrants to Lithuania and detained nearly 60 couriers and organisers of people-smuggling. […] The border must be tight. No exceptions.’

The day before, Bardella had visited the Frontex headquarters in Warsaw together with MEP Fabrice Leggeri, the agency’s former head.

‘A visit to the Frontex headquarters in Warsaw, Poland, together with MEP Fabrice Leggeri, who used to head the agency. Faced with the migration threat, we want Frontex to be fully supported in its mission to protect the European Union’s external borders and empowered to push back every illegal migrant,’ he wrote.

Bardella pointed to the hybrid nature of the migration pressure exerted by Belarus and Russia.

‘Since 2021 the Polish border, the gateway to Europe, has been subjected to unacceptable migration pressure orchestrated by Belarus with the approval of the Russian Federation. These destabilisation operations have a single goal: to split Europe from within. We will never accept this blackmail: Frontex must stand alongside Poland to protect our continent,’ he said.

Jordan Bardella’s visit to Poland is strategic in nature. The leader of the French far right is seeking allies ahead of a possible run in next year’s presidential election in France.
