LOS ANGELES — “Toy Story 5” centers on a young girl named Bonnie, her relationship with her toys and the new world of technology. The actress who voices Bonnie is Scarlett Spears, a young performer with a growing résumé who recently turned 9.
Spears may already be familiar to audiences for several past roles. She played young Glinda in “Wicked: For Good” last year and appeared in P!NK’s music video, “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” She is also a cast member on “General Hospital,” where she plays Donna Corinthos, the daughter of Sonny and Carly.

At the “Toy Story 5” premiere, Spears spoke to On The Red Carpet’s George Pennacchio about her custom-made outfit, which included a vest, dress and cowboy boots with a special message on them.
Spears: “And behind them [gestures to shoe] it says Bonnie!”
Pennacchio: “Like in the movie!”
Spears: “Yes!”
Pennacchio: “So you came dressed to impress?”
Spears: “Yes! Woohoo!”
Spears also shared what she enjoys most about her character.
“I love that she’s just herself,” she said.
When asked whether she relates to Bonnie, Spears said she sees similarities between them.

“Well, we’re both eight,” she said. “I’m about to turn nine on Friday. We both love playing dress up, meeting new friends and having big, and I mean big, imaginations.”
The young actress also experienced a memorable moment at the film’s premiere, where she met Taylor Swift.
Beyond “Toy Story 5,” Spears has continued to add to her film credits. She appears in “The Last Mrs. Parrish,” based on a best-selling novel and starring Jennifer Lopez.
