Sullivan’s Crossing’s Morgan Kohan Breaks Silence on Maggie and Cal’s Possible Split After Liam Kiss (Exclusive)

Sullivan’s Crossing’s Morgan Kohan is addressing the potential split between Maggie and Cal after her kiss with estranged husband Liam.

“It’s a huge shakeup, no matter what,” Kohan, 32, exclusively told Us Weekly about the breakup in the Monday, June 1, episode of the hit CW show. “That’s going to absolutely rattle the foundation of any relationship.”

Kohan continued: “No matter how solid you are — and maybe the more solid you are — the harder it is [to work through that]. I think Cal and Maggie are meant to be so I have hope for them.”

Season 3 of Sullivan’s Crossing, which started streaming on Netflix in August 2025, initially hinted at Maggie’s ex when she mentioned Liam (Marcus Rosner) as a summer fling.

Sullivan’s Crossing took a surprising turn when Cal met Maggie’s secret husband — but who exactly is Liam? Season 3 of the hit series, which started streaming on Netflix in August 2025, initially hinted at Maggie’s (Morgan Kohan) ex when she mentioned Liam (Marcus Rosner) to Lola (Amalia Williamson) as a summer fling she had […]

Liam ultimately showed up ahead of season 4 — with Maggie’s boyfriend, Cal (Chad Michael Murray), finding out that she was actually married to Liam.

The fourth season got even more confusing for Maggie as she found herself growing closer to Liam. After she found out that he didn’t abandon her for a job but was actually taken hostage as a war journalist for three years, Maggie and Liam shared an unexpected kiss.

“I feel like it wasn’t necessarily a decision for her. Something so physical happened and to have such a shock to your whole system of falling through a floor and being like, ‘Can I breathe even?’ It just completely cracked her open,” Kohan explained. “It was just like all of the stuff that she’s held in for so long — it all broke her open.”

An emotional roller-coaster. From Riverdale‘s Cheryl and Toni to Nancy Drew‘s Nancy and Ace, fans have watched their favorite couples break hearts with some devastating splits. Riverdale, which premiered in 2017, originally introduced Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) as a grieving sister trying to deal with the death of her twin brother Jason (Trevor Stines). After striking […]

Kohan hinted at an “inevitability” when it came to Maggie and Liam’s feelings resurfacing. While the actress couldn’t tease how the love triangle would end, she expressed “hope” that fans would be pleased — and Rosner could return for more seasons.

“Everybody on set just loves Marcus so we would love for a version where he’s around one way or another,” she said. “We’ll see how that goes but as hard as it is for some of our audience members, I’m happy with how much it’s making people feel.”

Looking ahead, Kohan is hoping for more opportunities to learn about Maggie’s life from before her return to the Crossing.

“What I really loved about all of that was getting to do the flashbacks and really seeing the younger version of Maggie,” she gushed to Us. “Seeing her fully letting go and just going with what was happening in front of her … I’ve really loved getting to see.”

Sullivan’s Crossing is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 4 airs Mondays on The CW at 8 p.m. ET.
