Costco shoppers shocked by ‘overpriced’ 3-ingredient dessert: ‘Ridiculous’

Costco’s bakery introduced a new dessert for spring — but shoppers aren’t so sweet on it.

There’s a new Strawberries & Cream dessert at the retailer, featuring fresh strawberries, whipped cream and graham cracker crumbs in a large, shareable tub.

It sounds like a sweet and refreshing dessert option, but Costco members are not thrilled with the $14.99 price tag.

“$15 is ridiculous for 6 strawberries and some cream,” someone wrote on Instagram.

“Costco is failing,” a user declared.

“Wowwwwwwwwwwww the price is ridiculous,” one commented.

“I can’t justify spending that much money on that little bit of product,” another said.

“Yeah, that’s a little expensive for mostly whip cream,” someone noted.

Many people also noted that this dessert is easy to make at home, and likely for less money.

“No thank you. I can make strawberries and cream at home… for less than $15,” another added.

“You can make it at home a lot less if you get your ingredients at Aldi or Lidl. Too expensive,” someone chimed in.

It’s a pretty simple dessert — a base of graham cracker, a thick layer of Chantilly cream with whole strawberries as the top layer with more fruit layered inside.

Though not everyone is completely against the dessert. Some shared that they were annoyed by the price, but still bought it and enjoyed it or are still interested in getting the dessert.

“Looks delicious! And yes , definitely overpriced,” someone said.

“I bought it today. It’s so good!” another wrote.

“I freaking loved it but yes a little overpriced,” one admitted.

“I did try it but I did stand in front of them for a half hour arguing to myself how expensive it is,” a shopper shared. “Everyone around me looked at them but once they saw the price, they decided hell no.”
