Trumpeter Tatiana Tate’s surprise ‘Narco’ performance amps up fans during Edwin Diaz’s Dodgers debut

LOS ANGELES () — One of the biggest highlights of the Dodgers’ season so far happened between innings.

When star closer Edwin Diaz came in to make his regular season debut, his walk out to the mound was magnified by Tatiana Tate. The trumpet extraordinaire blared a live version of Diaz’s iconic entrance song, “Narco.” The energy from the Friday night crowd at Dodger Stadium was electric.

“I just grew up going to Dodgers games and just having a love,” Tate told 7. “And when we signed Diaz last year, I said, ‘Oh, it’s going to be on and poppin’.'”

Days later, the talented musician is still blown away by that moment, describing it as something she’ll “never forget for the rest of my life.”

“It’s just really cool to say, ‘Hey, I play for the Dodgers.’ Like what? As a Cali girl, it’s really a blessing,” Tate said.

Tate doesn’t want to toot her own horn but says the Dodgers organization approached her with the opportunity.

“It was the first time they had ever did something like that, and it was also a secret,” she said. “I’m really happy that not only my talent showed but because I invested in my brand, I invested in my social media, that kind of helped propel me to that opportunity.”

The positive reaction to the surprise performance is music to Tate’s ears.

“I walk out, people are like, ‘That’s that trumpet lady,’ and they all start getting hyped and then I start getting hyped all over again,” she said. “It’s an immense amount of love.”

Tate hopes to close out future games as the Dodgers’ quest for a three-peat gets underway.
