2 people shot after fight breaks out at Santa Monica Pier, police say

SANTA MONICA, Calif. () — Two people were shot after a large fight at the Santa Monica Pier Sunday night, police said.

Officers responded to the pier at about 9 p.m. after shots were reported, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The agency said there was a large fight involving several people just before shots rang out. Two people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, SMPD said.

Both gunshot victims were given medical aid at the scene before being taken to a local hospital.

The cause of the fight was not immediately known.

Police say portions of the pier may be temporarily restricted while officers conduct their investigation.
