One would not think that an actress currently starring as the lead characters in the musicals “Camelot” and  “My Fair Lady” at the Wick Theatre in Boca Raton for a lengthy three month run would have to be concerned about finding another job.

However, actress Allyson Rosenblum learned early on that life in show business, despite earning many standing ovations for her acting and singing, would not guarantee her a 40 hour work week, a two week paid vacation or a 401k retirement plan.

“My father Larry played the trumpet, but not full time, so I knew in my early teens that although I wanted to be a professional actress in theater, I also knew it was a different career path and life than what a career is in becoming an accountant, doctor or lawyer,” said Rosenblum.

Young Ally, growing up in Boca Raton, was also encouraged by her parents to be an actress. Her sister Megan also received support in becoming a stand up comedian, currently performing in New York.

Upon graduating from University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2017, Rosenblum ventured to New York City to pursue a career on the Broadway stage.

Rosenblum did find success on the stage for the 30 months she resided in New York, performing the song “Singin’ in The Rain” as a member of a cabaret show at  the 54 Club in Manhattan. However, given the shutdown of New York City night spots and Broadway in 2019, Rosenblum decided to take another path to further her career.

“I knew how important it was for me to stay fit and exercise to keep up with the physical and mental demands of acting. Given that everything shut down with Covid, I thought that developing a second career in fitness would be so beneficial not only for my career on stage, but to teach others how to exercise and stay fit.”

Being disciplined and innovative as she is in acting, Rosenblum earned her personal training certificate from the National Academy of Sport Medicine. When she returned to South Florida in 2020, she began teaching fitness at Orangetheory Fitness in Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale before moving on to teach fitness at TRX in Delray Beach and IFit in South Florida as well.

Given that Rosenblum has to study lines for long hours and many weeks prior to going on stage as her character, one has to wonder how she is able to have two careers in acting and fitness.

“I take absolutely nothing for granted and I love both acting and fitness. I learned to multi-task, being disciplined and ready for whatever new challenges there are in both acting and fitness”

While developing her career in fitness, Rosenblum has grown as an actress, first as an ensemble player which led to her growth in stature in being selected to portray  lead roles in musicals.

When Rosenblum returned to South Florida, she thrived under the direction of Michael Ursua playing lead characters at the then Broadway At LPAC series in productions of “Always Patsy Cline”,  “42nd Street”, “Hello Dolly”,  and “Legally Blonde”.

After observing Rosenblum perform in “Hello Dolly”, what made her so impressive in her role as “Irene” is her ability to shine musically with her mezzo-soprano voice producing such deep emotions in songs such as “It Only Takes A Moment”.

“I am grateful and honored to be selected by Michael (Ursua) for giving me the opportunity to become the many beloved characters in his productions that I will never forget.”

Rosenblum is quickly asserting herself as an actress on the rise in South Florida. After completing her run at Wick Theatre as Eliza in “My Fair Lady” on Feb. 22, Rosenblum was signed quickly to star as Guinevere, the lead female character in “Camelot”.

“We are so happy and excited to have Ally (Rosenblum) for two consecutive productions at The Wick. Along with her talent, she creates such a warm, supportive team environment with the cast in our musicals and is an asset both on and off the stage,” said Kimberly Wick, Associate Artistic Director of the Wick Theatre.

“Ally is so great to work with. She always has my back in knowing my lines as well as her lines in every performance of ‘My Fair Lady’,” said actor Michael Coppola, who played leading man Henry Higgins in “My Fair Lady”.

Audiences not only will be getting accustomed to seeing Rosenblum’s face over the next few months in “Camelot” and “My Fair Lady”, but she will be recognized in numerous commercials on television or on the internet, such as her online commercial titled “How To Get Rid of Doggy’s Bad Breath” for chewy.com

Rosenblum also starred in an innovative cabaret show at the Arts Garage in Delray Beach in 2023 titled “Room To Blum” singing and talking about her journey to New York City and back to Boca Raton.

She is quite adept at juggling many assignments on any given day. For example, on a day Rosenblum was scheduled to perform “My Fair Lady” at a 2 p.m. matinee, she raced to audition for a commercial in the morning and made it back to the stage in time to transform herself into Eliza Doolittle..

“The bottom line is never ever take anything for granted and to continue to grow, learn and to become a mentor to a new performer. I feel very much blessed in both my professional and personal life,” said Rosenblum.

Following her last performance in “My Fair Lady” on Feb. 22, Allyson Rosenblum will next star in concert with musical director Caryl Fantel titled “Cabaret Night” on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Temple Beth Torah Shaaray Tzeedek, 5700 NW 94 Ave. in Tamarac. Tickets are $54. For tickets and more information, call 954-721-7660 or go to tbtst.org

Rosenblum will star as Guinevere in the musical “Camelot” from March 19- April 12 at the Wick Theatre, 7901 N. Federal Hwy  in Boca Raton. Tickets are $136. For tickets and more information, call 561-995-2333 or go to thewick.org
