LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Nearly 30 museums in Southern California will offer free entry Sunday during this year’s Free-for-All, which celebrates free arts and culture in the region.
For more than two decades, participating institutions have allowed visitors to enter museums without charge, though the offer does not apply to special ticketed exhibitions. Regular parking fees will also apply at each museum.
“For more than 20 years, SoCal Museums members have come together annually to collectively open our doors and welcome the public,” Cristian Hamilton, president of SoCal Museums and vice president of advancement at the Autry Museum of the American West, said in a statement.
“We believe arts and culture should be accessible to everyone, and Museums Free-for-All has become a community touchstone. The day encourages visitors to try something new, return to an old favorite, and experience the extraordinary diversity of free cultural experiences unique to Southern California.”
The following museums will offer free admission Sunday:
- Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
- American Museum of Ceramic Arts (advance reservation is required)
- Autry Museum of the American West (advance reservation is required)
- Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College
- California African American Museum
- California Botanic Garden
- Columbia Memorial Space Center
- The Getty Center (advance reservation is required)
- The Getty Villa (advance reservation is required)
- Institute Contemporary Art LA
- LA Brea Tar Pits (advance reservation is required)
- LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes
- Los Angeles County Museum of Art (advance reservation is required)
- MOCA Grand Avenue and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA
- Museum of Latin American Art
- Santa Barbara Museum of Art
- Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History
- Santa Monica History Museum
