Public health officials are warning of a Salmonella outbreak linked to moringa powder.
Various lots of moringa powder capsules by the brand Rosabella have been recalled as part of an investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration, as well as with state public health officials.
Officials are looking into a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Newport, a strain that is resistant to antibiotics, the FDA announced on Feb. 13.
Seven people have been infected so far, including three who were hospitalized, the FDA revealed. Nearly half of the sick patients reported consuming the popular Rosabella capsules.
Though this is the second outbreak of salmonella linked to moringa powder in recent months, the CDC said that the two outbreaks are unrelated.
According to the CDC, all reported sicknesses began between Nov. 7, 2025, and Jan. 8, 2026, and no deaths have been reported so far.
On Feb. 13, the product’s distributor, Ambrosia Brands LLC, announced a voluntary recall of certain capsules sold through online stores including eBay, TikTok Shop, Amazon, Shein, Etsy and the brand’s website.
The herbal supplements are marketed as supporting sleep, healthy joints and energy levels.
The FDA recommended that Ambrosia Brands recall all Rosabella moringa capsules, but the distributor agreed to recall certain lots.
Recalled products include Rosabella moringa “100% pure maximum potency” capsules sold in 60-count white plastic bottles with a green lid and label. The expiration dates for the recalled products range from March 2027 through Nov. 2027.
There are 52 impacted lot codes — which are the middle seven digits of the number printed above the expiration date on the bottom of the bottle — and they all start with 1356 as the sku number, and end in a -1 or -2 after the lot code. A full list can be found on the recall notice.
If you purchased the Rosabella moringa capsules with a lot code and expiration date matching those in the recall, it’s recommended to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
The FDA warned not to eat, serve or sell the affected products — and to sanitize all items and surfaces that came in contact with the container.
If you already consumed the capsules, keep watch for any salmonella symptoms and contact your healthcare provider.
The CDC and FDA are continuing to work to identify if there are other products causing illness in this outbreak, they noted.
No other Ambrosia Brands products are impacted by this recall, according to the FDA.
