Erika Christensen previews Angie’s future on ‘Will Trent,’ is there hope for her and Will’s relationship?

NEW YORK — ‘s hit crime drama “Will Trent” continues Tuesday night with a new episode, and Detective Angie Polaski is at a major crossroads.

She is engaged, pregnant, and building a new life, but her history with Will is not so easy to leave behind.

Entertainment reporter Joelle Garguilo sat down with actress Erika Christensen to talk about what’s next for Angie and whether there is still hope for her and Will.

“Will Trent,” ‘s primetime crime drama, follows a special agent with an extraordinary ability to see what others miss.

At the heart of the show is Will’s relationship with Angie.

Joelle Garguilo: You know, I love the show so much.

Erika Christensen: I do.

Joelle Garguilo: And I got to spend some time with you guys in Atlanta, which was incredible, so we are so happy to have you here in New York.

Erika Christensen: Oh, I’m pleased to be here. As we were just saying, it’s fun to be in New York.

From her breakout role in “Traffic,” Christensen has never shied away from complexity, and Angie, a detective with a traumatic past, is no different.

Joelle Garguilo: We’ve got to talk about Angie. What’s going on with Angie this season?

Erika Christensen: Since the premiere episode, she says how much she loves her fiancé, but she says, “I sometimes think about the world in which it’s Will.” She still has an incredibly deep history and connection with Will that you can’t recreate.

This season, Angie is at a crossroads. She is engaged, pregnant and trying to build a new life, but her connection with Will lingers.

Erika Christensen: What I think is super interesting is Will Trent himself is at kind of a breaking point, and he’s really struggling. You get to really come inside his world even more and find out the toll that the first three seasons have taken on him.

Joelle Garguilo: What do you love about Angie?

Erika Christensen: I love that she doesn’t take crap from anybody, and she’s always been really upfront about who she is. She’s like, “I know that I come with baggage. I’m not trying to pretend. I’m doing my best, but what you see is what you get.”

Joelle Garguilo: Is there a world where Will and Angie can get back together?

Erika Christensen: The audience, I think, is making their hopes and dreams known. Listen, anything could happen. I don’t know.

“Will Trent” airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on , you can stream it the next day on Hulu.
