Romy and Jake Reiner kicked off the New Year performing some community service.
Romy, 28, and Jake, 34, whose parents were Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, were spotted cleaning up a beach in Malibu on Thursday, January 1, per photos obtained by TMZ. The siblings were joined by their pal Alex Siliberg as they collected trash that washed up on the shore.
This is the second time Jake and Romy were spotted walking on the beach since their parents’ tragic deaths. They were seen out and about in honor of Romy’s birthday on Tuesday, December 30.
Last month, Rob and Michele were found dead inside their Brentwood, California, home. The couple were 78 and 70, respectively.
Us Weekly later confirmed that Romy and Jake’s brother, Nick, was arrested and held without bail on a suspicion of murder after Rob and Michele were found with “apparent stab wounds.” (Rob also shared adopted daughter Tracy, 61, with his first wife, the late Penny Marshall.)
Nick, 32, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and declined to enter a plea during his first court appearance. His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday. January 7, 2026.
Shortly after news broke of Nick’s arrest, Jake and Romy broke their silence on their parents’ passing.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” the siblings said in a statement. “They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
The pair continued, “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”
Following Rob and Michele’s death, friends of the couple revealed they received the family’s holiday cards.
“Today in the mail was a card from Michele and Rob Reiner!” Neda Soderqvist wrote via Instagram on Monday, December 29. “Even from heaven, they are still making sure that everyone receives their bonuses and what really truly touches my soul and heart are the cards that Michele wrote me and one of the funny things about her was each time she sent me a bonus she would make me promise her that I would utilize it for myself and not give it away.”
Soderqvist continued, “She knew me so well but today Michelle I promise you I’ll keep $100 and the rest I’m going to donate in your honor to one of the most inspiring foundations that I know you love thank you for being my best friend ride or die. Someone who taught me self-worth self-love and I will keep your legacy going forever and I’ll give you the oath that I’ll be here for your children.”
