VENTURA, Calif. () — Heavy rain and flooding partially washed away a family’s backyard in Ventura, and crews are now assessing the situation.
A viewer told Eyewitness News the damage was caused by a failed drainage canal, which led to a massive sinkhole. The incident happened in the area of Maple Street and Redwood Avenue, leaving the home’s foundation right at the edge.
The damage appeared to be spreading into neighboring backyards. At least one home has been tagged.
Ventura County Public Works confirmed their crews responded to the home, but additional details were not available.
