Lizzo clapped back at body-shamers in the best way.
Lizzo, 37, took to Instagram on Thursday, December 4, to show off her bikini body while shutting down haters. “Today I saw a fat joke about me — in 2025 — and it was viral. It was a dumb joke and they were just laughing at me because I’m fat,” she wrote.
“Let me be a reminder to everyone to NEVER let anyone shame you for what you choose to do with your body,” the singer continued. “Because when you’re big they talk s***, when you’re small they talk s***. Your body will never be good enough for them because it’s not FOR them. It’s for you.”
Lizzo added, “If I get a BBL mind ur business , if lose 100lbs mind ur business, if I gain every pound back and then some… mind ur f***ing business.”
She concluded the post by writing, “Anyways.. my fat ass stays living with a paid off mortgage in yall bitches heads. 🥱.”
Lizzo’s celebrity friends and followers came to her defense and hyped her up in the comments section.
“U look insanely amazing 😍 ppl don’t want to see anyone doing good these days 🙌,” Trisha Paytas wrote. One of her followers added, “Word! Also me: damnnnnn she looks amazing! (All the time).” Another commented, “Tell em sis! You are beautiful in every way, inside and out. ❤️🔥👏🏾.”
Lizzo’s bikini featured bright yellow triangle cups with black snakeskin print. Her top was complete with halter straps and a knot in the center of her cups. The rapper matched the piece with coordinating bottoms, featuring high-cut legs and bows that tied on her hips.
Lizzo’s post comes after she hit her “weight release goal” in January.
“I did it,” she captioned a mirror selfie of herself wearing a red bra and leggings. “Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal.”
Lizzo added, “I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”
Lizzo later revealed that she was “suicidal” at the beginning of her weight-loss journey in November.
“I started losing weight in the fall of 2023. I was severely depressed. I had been the subject of vicious scandal, and it felt like the whole world turned its back on me. I became deeply suicidal,” she wrote via Substack. “I cut off all my loved ones.”
She added that she “couldn’t trust anyone” following the 2023 “scandal,” referring to when three of her former backup dancers filed a lawsuit against her for sexual and religious harassment, disability discrimination, creating a hostile work environment and more. Lizzo denied the claims.
“I found that I had lost some weight in that process, but it wasn’t as significant as it is now. Because it wasn’t intentional,” she noted. Lizzo also shared that she changed her mindset and began viewing her weight loss as a pound “released” and not “lost.”
