Harry Wilson scored twice in stoppage time to produce a remarkable comeback win for Fulham against Brentford in a west London derby at Craven Cottage.
Brentford had led since the 24th minute when Vitaly Janelt’s rocket of a shot picked out the bottom corner against the run of play.
And all of Fulham’s enterprising play seemed set to leave them with nothing as the clock ticked into six minutes of added time.
But substitute Wilson had other ideas, equalising with a deft near-post flick that looped over the goalkeeper and into the far corner to draw the home side level.
And it was Wilson who won it right at the death, as he stooped to turn home Antonee Robinson’s cross to spark jubilant scenes on the banks of the river Thames. There was fortune about the goal, with Wilson looking to head the ball into the far corner, only to see it come off his shoulder and into the near corner.
The win moves Fulham above Brentford and up into ninth place in the Premier League.
Talking Point – Three fully deserved points
Fulham were the better side throughout, racking up 26 attempts in the match to Brentford’s five, with only two of those efforts from the visitors being on target compared to Fulham’s 12.
Manager Marco Silva will have been frustrated by his side’s lack of ruthlessness, and will be keen to find more of a cutting edge heading into a busy part of the season.
But the quality of his team’s build-up play was highly encouraging, with Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe particularly impressive.
Player Of The Match – Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
Fulham’s American full-back is a consistently impressive performer, and he played a big role all night down a left flank where much of the game’s best football was played.
His link-up with Nelson and Smith Rowe caused Brentford problems all night, and defensively he did an excellent job keeping Bryan Mbeumo quiet.
Even into the 96th minute Robinson was keen to push forward, and it was his run and cross that set up the winning goal.

Match Highlights
24’ – GOAL! FULHAM 0-1 BRENTFORD (JANELT)
Oof, that is a stunning hit. Brentford win the ball back inside the Fulham half and work it to Janelt, who has a crack from distance and sends a bullet flying into the bottom corner from miles out. The travelling fans can barely believe it, that’s outrageous. 1-0.
90+2’ – GOAL! FULHAM 1-1 BRENTFORD (WILSON)
Finally Fulham have the breakthrough! They deserve it, but it was beginning to look like it wouldn’t come. The goal itself is absolute class, with Traore’s cross from the right met by the most audacious of back-heeled flicks by Harry Wilson, who sends the ball looping over the ‘keeper to nestle into the far corner. Was it on purpose? He won’t care. 1-1!
Brentford nearly snatch it at the death as Leno makes a sensational close-range stop to deny Carvalho and his defenders scramble to deny the visitors on the rebound. That’s the best chance The Bees have created all night.
90+7’ – GOAL! FULHAM 2-1 BRENTFORD (WILSON)
Sensational scenes at Craven Cottage as Harry Wilson bags his second goal in stoppage time to surely win it for Fulham! The excellent Robinson bursts into the box down the left and clips in a cross, and Wilson stoops to direct the ball beyond a sprawling goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The stadium erupts and Wilson is mobbed. What a moment! 2-1!
