LOS ANGELES () — A man was arrested on his 19th birthday after leading Los Angeles police on a dangerous dirt bike chase that included a series of unusual stops and evasive maneuvers.
The pursuit on Wednesday featured the suspect stopping at a gas station near Huntington Park to refuel a stolen dirt bike before driving away with the gas pump still attached.
He was also seen using a cellphone while fleeing police and later rode through a park, where he appeared to retrieve gas that had been left for him in a container.
Online jail records identified the suspect as Christian Fuentes, who faces felony charges including evading police and vandalism. His birthday is listed as Aug. 19 – the same day of the chase.

A dirt bike rider led LAPD on a chaotic chase, weaving through parks and making unusual pit stops before the pursuit ended with a dramatic arrest.
New security video obtained by Eyewitness News shows a closeup view of the dirt bike rider getting fuel at the gas station in the middle of the police pursuit before taking off – with the pump still attached.
Investigators said the pursuit began in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division near Blake Avenue and Cabot Street before winding through city streets.
After more than an hour, the chase ended behind a home in a South Los Angeles neighborhood, where officers located the suspect hiding in a blue recycling bin.
Isaiah James, who lives across the street, said he noticed police activity while working in his garage.
“I was just working in the garage, and I saw the police show up which got my attention because usually they don’t come on this street,” James said.
James said he watched as officers took Fuentes into custody after he surrendered.
“I noticed when he was being arrested, they kinda laughed about it because I guess he liked the thrill of it,” James said.
