LOS ANGELES () — Celebrate Lunar New Year in Chinatown today at the 127th Golden Dragon Parade, hosted by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles.
Dragon and lion dancers are just a few of the cultural groups attendees can expect when the parade steps off from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
“They are unique to our culture, to the Chinese culture, and so people love to see them,” said Mamie Hong Weinberg, parade chair and vice president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of L.A. “They’re martial artists as well, and so they’re so highly skilled. It’s amazing!”
7 will stream the parade LIVE everywhere you watch Eyewitness News.
Organizers said thousands of revelers are expected to fill Chinatown for the annual celebration.
The Golden Dragon Parade will begin at North Hill St & Ord St., in Los Angeles.
This year’s theme is “Unity in the Community,” showcasing a diverse selection of live performances and the participation of dignitaries and local business leaders.
The 2026 parade will also feature salsa and ballet folklórico performances from international groups.
“Although we’re celebrating the Lunar New Year, we are also celebrating our neighbors,” Hong Weinberg said. “Chinatown is not made up of only Chinese people. We have all kinds of nationalities living in Chinatown now, so we wanted to celebrate that.”
Attendees can also expect an exciting display of 10,000 firecrackers that will mark the end of the mile-long parade.
“It’s the culmination of our Lunar New Year celebration, a time of togetherness and welcoming in the new year, all bright and sparkly,” Hong Weinberg said. “It takes away all the bad from the past year and welcomes in the new.”
Following the parade, the community is encouraged to make a day of the lively event and check out Chinatown’s unique vendors, restaurants and shops.
7 is proud to serve as Platinum Sponsor of the 2026 Golden Dragon Parade.
