2 fatally shot at Oakland Hills home above UC Berkeley on Panoramic Way, police say

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — Two people were fatally shot at a home in the hills above U.C. Berkeley’s campus on Friday morning, according to police.

Berkeley police say that officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 400 block on Panoramic Way just before 11 a.m., where they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers performed life-saving measures until firefighters arrived but the 61-year-old man and 63-year-old woman succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the two appear to have been a married couple.

Oakland police say it’s unknown what led up to the shooting but they are not ruling out that this was a murder suicide.

Authorities say they are not currently looking for any outstanding suspect and there is no threat to the neighborhood.
