MOORPARK, Calif. () — Fireworks lit up the night sky in Moorpark on the Third of July in what has been a decades-long tradition for the community.
“We came here to see the fireworks, have fun with our family members and celebrate the Fourth of July,” said Little Miss United States, Seven Rogers.
Thousands of families gather at Arroyo Vista Community Park every year for the Annual Fireworks Extravaganza. The event offered food, games and a space for quality time.
“I think it’s nice to just have so many people come together from not even just Moorpark,” one participant said.
“No phones. The kids just getting along and just being kids,” said Raymond Michael.
The sky was the stage for another big show. The Patriot Parachute Team, which fundraises for service members around the country, put on a skydiving performance for the country’s 250th birthday.
The team is made up of veterans who say part of what makes their performance special is what happens after they land and interact with the crowd.
The celebration welcomed newcomers and those who have grown up coming year after year.
“It’s what I grew up with. I’ve been coming here since I was my kids’ age,” Michael said.
