Tonight, The Book of Mormon will play its 5,759th performance, passing Mamma Mia! to become the 9th longest running show in Broadway history. Winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical and now in its 15th year on Broadway, The Book of Mormon is the longest running show in the 100-year history of the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street).
It was recently announced that original cast members Nikki M. James and Rory O'Malley will return to the Broadway production for a strictly limited 12-week engagement. From October 27, 2026 through January 17, 2027, James will step back into her Tony Award-winning role as Nabulungi, and O'Malley will return in his Tony-nominated role of Elder McKinley.
