Irvine isn’t exactly known as party central.

But it turns out nobody nurses a bender better.

The famously buttoned-up Orange County city has been crowned the best-equipped place in America to survive the morning after, topping a ranking of 75 major US cities for hangover recovery convenience.

And California didn’t stop after last call.

Long Beach landed in third place, while Oakland and Stockton staggered into sixth and seventh — giving the Golden State four of the top seven spots nationwide.

Irvine blitzed the competition with enough caffeine, juice, brunch and IV hydration listings to perk up even the rowdiest of revelers.

The master-planned city led the nation with 98.8, 142.7 and 455 listings per 100,000 residents, according to the analysis.

It also record 230 brunch spots per 100,000 residents, making eggs Benedict and mimosas — hair of the dog optional — especially easy to find.

Data specialists at Play Casino compiled the ranking using Waterboy’s “Hungover Hotspots” dataset. The index gave equal 40% weightings to wellness amenities and hangover-friendly good options, while online search demand accounted for the remaining 20%.

Plano, Texas, temporarily interrupted California’s victory lap by taking second place. Miami and Newark rounded out the top five. The Arizona cities of Chandler and Scottsdale took eight and ninth, while Henderson, Nevada completed the top 10.

Stockton led the country in diner access, boasting 105 greasy-spoon opportunities per 100,000 residents. Newark took the sauna crown with 113.6 per 100,000.

Before Californians start drinking in the name of civic pride, however, the ranking comes with a sobering caveat.

“The ranking is best read as a measure of nearby convenience, not proof that a city of service can shorten a hangover,” a Play Casino data specialist said.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism similarly warned that no hangover remedy has been scientifically proven. Ultimately, time is needed for the body to clear alcohol’s byproducts and recover.

The analysis also revealed a nation of regretful Googlers.

Americans made an estimated 756,310 searches for hangover cures and prevention between 2023 and 2025 — with 93% desperately seeking a cure and just 7% thinking ahead about prevention.

Atlanta had the highest search rate, followed by Orlando and Minneapolis.

Overall hangover searches fell by nearly 30% during the three-year period, coinciding with a broader decline in alcohol use.

As for the city least prepared for a pounding head and queasy stomach, Memphis woke up with the worst headache of all — finishing dead last.
