Perez Hilton’s family is sharing new details about the moments leading up to the celebrity gossip blogger’s disturbing TikTok livestream.

Hilton was hospitalized following a TikTok livestream on Tuesday, during which he appeared to self-harm.

According to a statement posted on Hilton’s website, his children, niece and sister were inside his Miami home “just minutes before the public livestream incident.” The statement said they fled the home once it became clear that Hilton was “experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself.”

“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” the statement said. “An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.

“For the children’s safety, privacy, and well-being, we respectfully ask members of the media, paparazzi, content creators, and the public to leave the area surrounding the family’s home and not return. Please allow his children the privacy and space they need during this unimaginably difficult time.”

The message added that updates on Hilton’s condition will be provided on his website “when we have additional information we are able to share.”

Hilton’s family and team shared several updates on his website earlier in the week, confirming that Hilton was receiving medical care and was “able to communicate” with them following his hospitalization, “which has given our family hope.”

Hilton is a single father of three children: a 13-year-old son, an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old daughter. All three children were born via surrogacy.
