Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., is considered a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into their father, Thomas Markle Sr.
“To accuse the father only is only half the police work,” Philippine Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said in a Thursday, November 5, press conference, per local outlet News5 Philippines. “There are signs that point that the son is involved in the crime as well, but [he is] only [being investigated] as a person of interest so far.”
Thomas Jr., 60, told The Sun last month that he allegedly discovered child sex abuse material (CSAM) at his father’s home in the Philippines and subsequently handed it over to authorities. Thomas Sr., 82, who has since left the country, vehemently denied the “sick” accusations in a statement shared with the Daily Mail.
Thomas Jr., who has stood by his allegations, is not presently accused of a crime. Us has reached out for comment.
News broke on October 25 that Filipino authorities were looking into the alleged images.
“It is the most deplorable displays of impunity toward sexual activity that I have ever seen,” Remulla said on Thursday, noting officials received over 7,500 sensitive images that he declined to personally view. “It’s really, really disturbing.”

According to Remulla, authorities have not yet determined whether the devices containing the images actually belong to Thomas Sr.
Thomas Sr. has been estranged from daughter Meghan, 45, since 2018, which she claims was a result of learning about the accusations.
“In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me,” the Duchess of Sussex said in a statement to Us last month. “It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.”
She continued, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them. I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families.”
Meghan, who shares two children with husband Prince Harry, further noted that she was “deeply distressed” by the accusations.
“My thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” she concluded. “Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
