LOS FELIZ, LOS ANGELES () — A massive sinkhole opened up late Wednesday morning on a residential street in Los Feliz, nearly swallowing a van, as water from a water main break flooded the scene.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Franklin and Normandie avenues. Whether anyone was inside the van when it began to sink was unclear.
Video from AIR7 showed a Spectrum cable company van, halfway submerged into the street as it was inundated with water.
Spectrum said in a statement the employee is fine.
“Our technician was working in the area when the sinkhole opened this morning. The technician is fine,” the company said.
The cause of the water main break was unknown.
