NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES () — A manhunt continues for the shooter who opened fire and killed two people during a party at a strip mall near California State University, Northridge on Friday night.

The shooter is still at large as investigators work to determine what led up to the attack that left two people dead.

Dozens of people were packed inside a private party at Artist Lounge, an event space just steps away from Cal State Northridge, when the shooting happened.

Two people were killed in a shooting at an event venue in a strip mall near Cal State Northridge.

Cellphone video shows witnesses ducking for cover and scrambling to get away as gunshots rang out.

The Los Angeles Police Department said it received a call about a loud party at Artist Lounge just after 11 p.m.

When officers arrived, they told the organizers to shut the party down, and shortly after that, shots rang out.

Police said a young man and a woman were shot. Their names were not immediately released, but police said they were both between the ages of 18 and 25.

“What are you doing? Like, what are you doing with your life? You can’t take two innocent people’s lives like that. It’s horrible,” witness Ledger Fuller from Calabasas said. “I heard these pops, and I thought it was like a balloon or something… but then I heard like two more shots, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ And then people started crowding behind me. And the two girls behind me pulled me down and used me for cover. I saw this girl, like, fall down, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, someone just got shot.'”

LAPD said both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

AIR7 video from the scene on Friday night shows dozens of young people being briefly detained and searched before they were released.

Police said a third victim may have been wounded, but so far, that person has not been located.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated attack, and the search for the shooter continues.

The person who runs the event venue told Eyewitness News that a prayer vigil will be held at Artist Lounge at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help support the victims’ families and support Artist Lounge as it recovers from financial losses.
