Large fire engulfs multiple vehicles at Pacoima auto salvage yard, sending black smoke billowing into the air

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES () — Firefighters battled a large fire at an auto salvage yard in Pacoima on Sunday evening.

AIR7 flew over the commercial building lot on Montague Street, just south of Whiteman Airport, around 6 p.m., where black smoke was seen billowing into the sky from the raging fire.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, several vehicles were on fire underneath a carport at the auto salvage yard. AIR7 video shows the vehicles completely engulfed in flames.

LAFD declared a knockdown shortly before 7 p.m. Firefighters said it took just over an hour to fight the blaze. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
