VALLEY VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES () — A string of reported overnight break-ins at homes in the San Fernando Valley prompted an investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responded responded around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday to a two-story residence on Hatteras Street near Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Burbank Boulevard in Valley Village.
A neighbor reported seeing masked suspect running away from the house. The homeowner was away at the time of the incident, and he told investigators that he received an alarm notification about his power being out. He arrived home to find it dark and jewelry on the floor.
Police are investigating several home burglaries in the San Fernando Valley that happened within the span of 24 hours this weekend.
No suspects were found, and a Kia was seen leaving the scene, police said.
Earlier Tuesday, officers were called to a home near Magnolia Boulevard and Colfax Avenue. Intruders possibly broke in through a back window, which a worker was later seen boarding up with plywood.
The number of suspects or property that may have been stolen in that incident was unknown.
