LOS ANGELES () — A Texas man’s appreciation for a memorable meal at Langer’s Deli led to an unexpected surprise for the restaurant and a server.
Roberto Andrade, who was visiting Los Angeles from El Paso, Texas, realized he was not sure whether he had left a tip after being served at the iconic restaurant. Wanting to make sure his gratitude was recognized, Andrade mailed a $50 tip along with a letter to the restaurant’s owners.
“My first job was as a bus boy and waiter, and my sister also worked as a waiter for years,” Andrade’s letter said. “I recognize how important these tips are to workers. That’s why I’m sending these $50 just in case I forgot to include the tip.”
In his letter, Andrade expressed his appreciation for the service he received during his visit.
“Sending cash in an envelope is probably not my smartest idea, but I figured it was the easiest way to get this resolved,” the letter said. “I kindly ask that you give these $50 to our waitress along with my apologies.”
The owners of Langer’s Deli ensured the tip was delivered to the server who helped Andrade.
“Roberto, thank you for going out of your way to do the right thing when nobody would have known otherwise,” the restaurant posted on social media with a photo of the letter. “Your table’s always ready here.”
