ANAHEIM, Calif. () — Crews broke ground Monday at Disneyland – not for a new ride, but a new parking structure and transportation hub.

The construction comes as the theme park resort embarks on a multi-year plan for new attractions and amenities, including a new “Coco”-themed ride and Avatar destination at Disney California Adventure.

The new parking structure and transportation will be built on the east side of the Disneyland resort, on a part of what is currently an employee parking lot.

The new area will eventually have 6,000 parking spaces – a little more than half the size of the Mickey and Friends parking garage – and a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard.

It’s not clear when this work will be complete.

The Walt Disney Co. is the parent company of this station.
