NEW YORK — The anniversary of the 9-11 attacks is now a federally recognized national Day of Service and for many it has been transformed into a day of doing good.

Members of the “Disney Voluntears” — were at the Intrepid Museum in Manhattan on Friday, preparing to pack meals for charity.

Among those there were Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro, Debra OConnell, Chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, Kevin Martinez of ESPN and Almin Karamehmedovic of News.

The idea to make September 11 a day of service was first conceived in 2002 to honor the spirit of unity and service that arose after the attacks.

Disney is the parent company of this station.
