There are no limits to what Disney adults will spend on the Mouse House — this past weekend’s D23 convention proved that.
Proud Mickey Mouse fans professed expensive splurges on Disney memorabilia at the biennial Anaheim convention, including pins, backpacks, clothes, stuffed animals, and even an animatronic parrot.
Disney adults are known for their fanaticism about the traditionally kid-friendly brand, which some believe is age-inappropriate. D23, a shuttle ride away from Disneyland, is considered the spiritual center of their obsession.
Two fans confessed to an unbelievable spending sum in a TikTok video amid the feel-good, kid-friendly, and animated chaos: $10,000.
How did they spend what would otherwise be many, many trips to Disneyland?
“Crocs, D23 marketplace for dolls,” an adult woman wearing a Deadpool shirt said. She “definitely” spent over $10,000, the fan said.
A man wearing a Mickey Mouse-themed vacation shirt confessed to a similar sum, “upwards of $10,000.”
He spent the spectacular sum on pins, Pandora jewelry, trading card game Lorcana, shirts, art, and an “animatronic parrot named Joey.”
Fans of Disney merchandise at the convention also spoke about spending well over the budget and even dipping into credit card debt.
“I’m five times over my budget,” one woman sheepishly said.
A duffel-bag-carrying Disney woman admitted to spending “almost $3,000,” right before a man with a large gray beard held up what he said was a “thousand-dollar backpack.”
One TikTok creator even said they spent $1,000…on just pins.
“We woke up at 6:00 AM & spent over $1,000 for pins at D23! Would you do the same for these?” they wrote.
Disney fanatics will have to wait another two years to empty their wallets at D23.
But in the meantime, the promised lands of American Disney adults — Disneyland and Disney World — will be there.
