Former Athletic reporter Dianna Russini and her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, spent their 4th of July weekend on the high seas, soaking up the sun and spending time with their kids on a Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas cruise, according to photos obtained by Page Six.
The family was spotted at the pool area on the luxury cruise where they appeared to be enjoying their vacation amid the fall-out from Russini’s controversy with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.
“They seemed to be engaged with one another,” an eyewitness told the outlet. “They were very family oriented with their kids. They took the kids to the Splash Pad together and were laughing at the pool.”
The source added that Russini, 43, even blew her husband a kiss from across the pool and danced with one of her sons to Katy Perry’s “Firework.”
Russini and Goldschmidt, 41, married in 2020 and share sons Michael, born in 2021, and Joey, born in 2022.
The couple’s holiday vacation came the same weekend Mike, 50, and his wife, Jen Vrabel, were seen in public together for the first time since the scandal broke. Page Six shared video of the pair on Friday, July 3, leaving a New York City hotel on the way to attend Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding.
The former NFL Insider and veteran coach first made headlines together in April when Page Six published photos of the two at a hotel in Arizona. In the weeks that followed, additional photos emerged of Russini and Mike, including one in which they appeared to be kissing at a Manhattan bar in 2020.
The Athletic launched an investigation into Russini’s alleged conduct and she resigned from her position just days after news of the scandal broke.
“I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published,” she said in a written statement shared via social media. “When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful. In the days that followed, unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts.”
She continued, “Moreover, this media frenzy is hurtling forward without regard for the review process The Athletic is trying to complete. It continues to escalate, fueled by repeated leaks, and I have no interest in submitting to a public inquiry that has already caused far more damage than I am willing to accept. Rather than allowing this to continue, I have decided to step aside now — before my current contract expires on June 30. I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.”
