Chase suspect in custody after standoff on 210 Freeway in Azusa

AZUSA, Calif. () — An armed suspect was taken into custody Sunday morning after a chase ended with a tense standoff on the 210 Freeway in Azusa, authorities said.

The pursuit initially began when deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s San Dimas station encountered a suspect with a gun, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP took over the chase shortly after 1 a.m. at the northbound 605 Freeway at Ramona Boulevard, near Baldwin Park.

The suspect stopped the pickup truck he was driving the vehicle on the eastbound 210 Freeway at Citrus Avenue, prompting authorities to close the freeway and summon an armored vehicle to the scene.
