ENCINO, LOS ANGELES () — A violent chain-reaction on the 101 freeway in Encino left a 19-year-old man dead early Saturday morning, and it was all caught on video.

California Highway Patrol says it received several calls about a car stalled with its hazard lights on in the fast lane of the 101 Freeway northbound near White Oak Avenue just before 2 a.m.

Video from the scene shows the stalled car getting hit by another vehicle.

The drivers of the two cars are then seen standing together with their backs turned to oncoming traffic as they have a discussion.

It wasn’t long before another car crashed into one of the stalled vehicles, video shows, sparking a multi-vehicle pileup. The collision killed one of the drivers standing outside of the vehicles. He was identified by the medical examiner’s office as 19-year-old Chaz Castillo.

It’s unclear if anyone else was injured.

CHP said someone was arrested at the scene, but they did not say what they were arrested for.

A Sigalert was issued at 2:38 a.m., shutting down all northbound lanes and diverting traffic to White Oak Avenue. Northbound traffic was backed up at the scene even after two lanes were reopened.

The Sigalert was canceled around 9 a.m., and all remaining lanes were reopened.
