WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. () — An investigation is underway after police say a man was shot on the sidewalk in West Hollywood — just steps away from the Sunset Strip.
Deputies responded to the 8700 block of Halloway Drive at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After arriving on scene, deputies found a man who was suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s department. He was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Video from the scene shows a conscious man being wheeled into an ambulance.
A second man can be heard saying this was an attempted robbery. Police have yet to confirm that.
Footage from what appears to be a surveillance camera captured the moments three individuals exit a silver-colored vehicle and approach a man before surrounding him. The video shows a struggle ensue.
In another video, at least one shell casing could be seen on the ground.
The sheriff’s department described the suspects as three male adults, average build, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants and black shows. All three suspects were wearing face masks. They were last driving away eastbound on Holloway Drive in a silver-colored vehicle.
