LAKE TAHOE, Calif. () — New dashcam video shows the moment good Samaritans jumped into action to help two people whose car came close to falling down a cliff near Lake Tahoe on Christmas.
Yvett Bañares-Tala and Ruben Tala, a local staff sergeant, were heading to Lake Tahoe for their annual holiday trip when Ruben suddenly noticed a black vehicle sliding off the road.
He quickly stopped his car, put it in park, and ran out to help. In the video, you can see Ruben anchoring himself to the car to speak to the passenger and driver in the car.
According to News, there were two people in the vehicle and two small dogs. After a few minutes, other good Samaritans stopped to help. Ruben asked one of them to bring a rope, which they tied to the car to help stabilize it.
After stabilizing the vehicle, Ruben and the other good Samaritans began to extract the driver and the passenger, one by one.
Yvett says she immediately called 911 when they initially stopped to help and first responders arrived about 15 to 20 minutes later.
The two people in the vehicle were safely rescued, and no injuries were reported.
