Astrologer and tarot card reader Shaina Emily has taken to TikTok to share her insights on the birth chart placements that make someone unlikable upon first meeting, an initial ick, if you will.

Emily stresses, “This is just upon first impression; this doesn’t mean that you’re an unlikeable personality when they get to know you; this is just strictly when they first meet you.”

To find out if you have any of the ick, you’ll need your birth chart. If you have your birth date, time and location, you can calculate your chart using a generator like this.

Bear in mind that, more often than not, what people dislike about others is what they cannot abide about themselves.

Read on and let the haters hate.

Scorpio rising

The number one off-the-bat offender? A Scorpio rising and/or someone with a Scorpio placement in their first house.

Emily explains, “The main thing with Scorpio rising is that you’re really polarizing. People are either absolutely obsessed with you or they just really don’t like you. They feel a bad vibe, like something is off.”

Emily explains that this aversion is often born from unresolved issues with power: “People are incredibly suspicious of a Scorpio rising and that reflects their feelings about holding power and taking up space. Because most people don’t have a healthy relationship with their sense of power, they will immediately have an issue with Scorpio rising.”

Undeniable, though some might argue unlikable powerhouse Taylor Swift, who divides the world between die-hard devotees and vocal haters, is a Scorpio rising.

Lilith, in the 1st, 7th or 10th house

Emily explains that having Lilith in the 1st, 7th or 10th house indicates an intimidating personality that people are prone to dislike.

“You’ll turn a lot of people off; people will not like your natural sense of individuality and strong sense of authority.”

For those with Lilith in the first house of the self, Emily says, “People of the same gender as you will not like you and people of the opposite gender will want to use you.”

Living betwixt exile and exploitation? Bummer.

Apex example of someone with Lilith in the first? Marilyn Monroe.

If you have Lilith hanging out in your seventh house of partnerships and trusted relationships, Emily cautions that folks will see you as an opponent at every turn.

“Everybody will try to fight you, everybody will try to get mad at you and everybody will try to see you and put you down as a bad guy.”

Case in point? Lilith in the seventh house poster child, Madonna.

If you were born with Lilith in the tenth house of career and public perception, Emily warns that it might be hard to make nice with the higher-ups: “Your bosses won’t like you. They’ll be intimidated by you.”

This Lilith placement speaks to unchecked ambition and a need to be singular and singularly recognized in your chosen vocation.

Famous folk with Lilith in the tenth include power players like Albert Einstein, Jennifer Lopez and JFK.

Aquarius rising or Aquarius dominance

Next up for the thumbs-down? Aquarius rising or Aquarius dominance in the birth chart. Emily, pulling no punches, explains, “You’re standoffish. You have RBF.”

She says that this placement also brings an air of one-upmanship and a serious superiority complex, “Gemini placements are very likable because they can relate to everybody. Aquarius is the opposite; they will always have this look-down-their-nose kind of thing and put themselves, sometimes subconsciously, in a higher position, especially intellectually.”

An elitist know-it-all? No thanks.

Sun in the 12th house

Emily says folks born with their sun in the 12th house of undoing, endings and the unconscious mind are immediately offputting to others, “I actually think these people are very likable when you get to know them, but people are very suspicious of you and are very cautious upon first meeting you.”

She notes that the wariness is mutual. Of these natives, she imparts, “You’re equally cautious upon meeting people because you have had a lot of complicated relationships in your life.”

She says 12th-house suns evaluate others from a place of strategic and sus defense: “Is this person going to use me? Is this person going to be a friend and then turn into a hidden enemy?”

Capricorn rising

Another offensive placement? A Capricorn ascendant.

Emily imparts that this ilk gives zero f—s and next to nothing in terms of engagement, “I just don’t think that they put out much energy; they don’t put out much enthusiasm. I’ve said this before and’ll say it again: it’s like talking to a brick wall.”

Cap in the first is stone cold and hard to break, a steeliness that’s challenging to engage with. “You give out the opposite of warmth and friendliness. You give shrewd and cold and coolness. You’re probably self-conscious, which doesn’t make people want to approach you. You’re hard to crack and people don’t wanna have to work that hard.”

Some polarizing peeps with Cap risings?

Kylie Jenner, Cristiano Ronaldo, Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth II, Gwen Stefani, Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell and Jane Fonda.

Highly aspected Jupiter

Emily notes that those with a highly aspected, dominant Jupiter can come off so strong that others are immediately put off. Jupiter is the planet of abundance, but in excess, it is absolutely extra.

Luxury as birthright Yves Saint Laurent, Jimmy Fallon and firebrand Sean Penn, are all Jupiter-dominant.

“It’s gonna be too much for people; you’ll seem too boisterous and attention-grabbing. I like a dominant Jupiter, but most people are going to see you as egotistical, loud and obnoxious, like no chill.”
