It’s a Chi-town miracle.
A Chicago man was reunited with his pup a decade after it went missing — and commemorated the meaningful moment on TikTok.
Edmon Lighthall’s poodle-doodle mix, Peter, escaped from his family’s backyard in 2015.
A decade later, on Sept. 22, he got a shocking text message — from a pet microchip registry company — telling him Peter had been found.
He then contacted Hammond Animal Control, an animal shelter 45 minutes from his home, and learned that his pooch had been rescued by police while walking down the street.
The next day, he drove to pick up Peter, whom he described as “his shadow.”
“It was absolutely unbelievable … He came out, he greeted me, and it was almost immediate. I felt like he recognized me immediately,” Lighthall told ABC News.
“He did his little greeting … he spins around and then he kind of lays in front of you. And I thought, ‘No way.’ I mean, it’s the same dog.”
Lighthall then gathered his family and friends at a park for a welcome home paw-ty for Peter.
“We did a picnic, we introduced him to his sister [dog] and a couple of other pooches from different family and friends,” Lighthall told the outlet. “It was just a great experience.”
The over-the-moon owner said he always knew in his heart that he would see his beloved four-legged friend again.
“I’d say, ‘I think if he’s alive, I’m sure that I’ll see him again,’” Lighthall said, according to the outlet.
“I’d say things like that and people would laugh and kind of just go along with me.”
