BURBANK, Calif. () — A San Fernando woman has been accused of intentionally starting a fire inside a Target store in Burbank, which shut down the store for several days.
According to the Burbank Police Department, Stephanie Irene Mendoza was arrested on Monday at a nearby hotel.
The fire was reported Sunday at the Target store in the Burbank Empire Center.
Police said the fire originated in the store’s bedding section and was intentionally set by Mendoza.
No serious injuries were reported, but police said the fire caused extensive damage to the store, including loss of merchandise, smoke contamination, and structural damage.
Police estimate that millions of dollars’ worth of damage was caused.
The store remained closed on Thursday as the case remains under investigation.
