The bigger the pie, the more room for sharing.
‘Tis the season for Costco and its massive pies. If you’re not familiar, typically every fall, the warehouse giant sells seasonal desserts that are so big, some weighing 58 ounces, around 3 pounds and 10 ounces to be exact, that they can easily feed a crowd of people.
Well, one Costco shopper so badly wanted to get their hands on one of these giant desserts that they posted a Craigslist ad asking for someone to share it with them.
Alongside a picture of one of the warehouse clubs’ giant pies, the ad read: “I really want to try the Costco peanut butter chocolate pie but it’s 4.5 lbs and I hear it’s very dense. I can’t eat it by myself, so I am looking for 3-4 people to meet me in the parking lot of Costco and split it with me. We will have to be fast since it’s 118 degrees outside. I’ll buy the pie but you must provide your own plate and fork.”
The original ad is from 2023, but it’s recently resurfaced and has gained traction since being reshared on TikTok.
In the comment section of the video — which has garnered over 200,00 views — some people are poking fun at it, calling the timeless ad a sign of the economic times.
These jumbo sweet treats usually go for around $5.99, but one commenter still called it a “recession indicator.”
Another person on the same wavelength came up with a genius idea, suggesting, “We need an app so the singles can shop at Costco and split the portions and the costs. Especially in this economy.”
Others in the comment section are viewing the ad as a cry for someone yearning to make friends.
“Wait why am i about to cry for him.”
“The people yearn for community and friends.”
Many shoppers in the comments agreed with the ad, thinking it’s a great idea: “No bc this is real. I always wanna try the desserts but it’s just a waste for me.”
“He’s so real for that.”
Last month, when Costco announced it was bringing back its beloved Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie just in time for the holiday season, shoppers couldn’t contain their excitement — but many also agreed they wished the store would release a smaller version.
“It’s hard to buy this big when living alone,” someone pointed out.
“Slices in the food court would be amazing,” another shopper suggested.
