Sandy Steers, who helped bring Big Bear eagles Jackie and Shadow to the world, dies

BIG BEAR, Calif. () — Sandy Steers, the executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley and a familiar face to many who follow the famed Big Bear eagles Jackie and Shadow, has died, the organization announced.

Friends of Big Bear Valley shared the news in a social media post, saying Steers died Wednesday evening.

No additional details about the circumstances of her death have been released.

Steers helped launch the livestream cameras that offer a close-up look at the daily lives of Jackie and Shadow and the eggs they have laid over the years.

She appeared multiple times on Eyewitness News, where she spoke about the famous Big Bear couple and their eaglets.
