Kyiv: Ukraine has stated that Russian forces have carried out another overnight strike on Kyiv. On Thursday, Russian forces launched nearly three dozen Iranian-designed attack drones at Ukraine and fired guided missiles at the second-largest city of Kharkiv in the east.
As per the Ukrainian Air Force, the air defence systems intercepted 22 drones. The official statement added that Russian forces had also fired two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the Belgorod border region.
“The main areas of attack were the south and north. The Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces destroyed 22 enemy drones. Several more drones did not reach their targets,” read an official statement from Ukraine’s Air Forces on Telegram.
As of now, no casulaties have been reported. The Russian side is yet to comment on this overnight strike.
In December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that Russia had launched 110 missiles overnight, in what is now the largest barrage fired towards Ukraine. Ukrainian officials added that most of the incoming missiles were shot down. However, seven civilians were killed and an unknown number of people still remain buried under the rubble.
This is a developing story….
