RIVERSIDE, Calif. () — Crews are battling a four-alarm pallet fire in Riverside that injured two firefighters and is sending huge plumes of smoke into the air.
The non-injury blaze was reported just after 3 p.m. Monday in the area of Main Street and Garner Road, between the Santa Ana River bottom and Interstate 215, according to the Riverside Fire Department.
Two firefighters were injured during a partial roof collapse and taken to a trauma center, according to the fire department. Their injuries are considered not life-threatening.
Amid strong winds, the fire jumped Garner Road and spread onto a nearby field.
Several businesses nearby were evacuated, but no injuries to civilians have been reported, authorities said.
