ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. () — A power outage in South Orange County left thousands of people in the dark Thursday night.

According to San Diego Gas & Electric, the outage initially impacted around 103,000 customers.

Some areas that were impacted included Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, and Mission Viejo.

As crews began to work to restore service, that number decreased to 40,000 before the power was fully restored.

“We understand how disruptive outages can be and are working to investigate the cause,” said San Diego Gas & Electric in a statement. “The safety of our customers, employees and communities remains our top priority.”

It’s unclear what caused the power outage.
