NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. () — The Newport Beach harbor lit up Wednesday night for the 117th annual Christmas Boat Parade.

Fireworks signaled the start of the event as boats decorated in lights cruised along the 14-mile route. Boat captains went all out, decking their vessels with lights and decorations.

Actor and Newport Beach native Ted McGinley was this year’s grand marshal.

“I’m extremely honored to be here tonight, to be part of the Newport Beach Boat Parade,” McGinley said. “Having grown up here and lived here my whole life, it is a very special event.”

The Newport Beach Boat Parade is known as one of the most popular holiday events.

The parade runs every night through Sunday. The entire family can watch from Marina Park, and it’s completely free to attend.
