Is there a world where Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s Olivia Benson can work alongside FBI’s Maggie Bell for a crossover episode?

FBI star Missy Peregrym told Us Weekly exclusively at the Law & Order 25th Anniversary Celebration in New York City on Tuesday, January 6, that she would love to have Mariska Hargitay make a guest appearance.

“That would be so much fun. I mean, it would be interesting,” Peregrym, 43, said. “Would she be coming out doing the field work with me? Are we gonna see her tackling somebody? I guess that’s what we’re gonna have to see.”

The actress added, “I think she’s gonna have to come over here.”

FBI executive producer Mike Weiss confirmed in a November 2025 interview both shows exist in the same universe, created by Dick Wolf.

Fans raised eyebrows about the connection when Hudson University, a fictional NYC college often referenced in NBC’s SVU, was name-dropped during more than one episode of CBS’ FBI.

“There is no crossover from NBC to CBS,” Weiss said at the time. “There is a bright line between those two universes.”

While it doesn’t seem like there’s a Benson cameo on the table any time soon, Peregrym did tell Us on Tuesday that she wants to see her character find love in the near future.

“Doesn’t everybody have [a relationship]?” she said. “Everyone has a family. It’s me. My character, I need some love.”

Another aspect Maggie has experienced some ups and downs with throughout the show’s duration is motherhood.

“I think she definitely wanted it. I think she understood that the risk was too high to have a child and to do what she was going to do,” Peregrym explained to Us. “It didn’t really make sense for her to have both things, so she made a sacrifice in staying with the FBI.”

Peregrym also addressed the one thing fans are dying to see: a relationship between Maddie and OA (Zeeko Zaki).

“Everybody wants this to happen. There’s something so special about the fact that we love each other so, so, so much,” she explained. “It would mess it all up if we got together. I think it’s too risky.”

Amanda Rollins is back and better than ever — and Kelli Giddish is spilling all the tea on her Law & Order: Special Victims Unit character’s highly anticipated return. “I’m so thrilled to be back,” Giddish told Us Weekly exclusively ahead of her return during the show’s new episode, which premiered on Thursday, October 16. Both Peregrym and Zaki, 35, discussed this topic with Us at length back in October 2025.

“I write an email once an episode that it’s time,” Zaki said at the time, noting that he feels differently than his costar. “I can’t handle [it anymore].”

Both stars are very aware that viewers want to see them get together onscreen.

“We know that the fans would really love that, and they’ve said so. I love that they want that because that means that we’re showing and demonstrating a partnership that’s worth seeing that,” Peregrym added. “But that’s also why I love that we’re not that.”

She continued, “It’s a different type of intimacy. We just know each other so well. We know what the other person needs. We know how to have their back. And that’s really great to play. I love that.”

New episodes of FBI premiere Mondays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
