HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES () — The Los Angeles Police Department has released body camera that shows the tense confrontation with a man that ended in a deadly Hollywood shooting.
The incident unfolded Dec. 18, 2025. Officers from the LAPD’s Hollywood Division were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of North Bronson Avenue, near Sunset Boulevard, after reports of a possibly suicidal man, police said.
Police footage shows 38-year-old Juan Guerrero Rojo bolting out of his apartment and toward police while armed with a large kitchen knife.
The man called 911 and “stated he was armed with a knife, threatening to kill himself, speaking to ghosts and had expressed that he would kill anyone who approached his front door,” the department said.
One officer opened fire at the same time as another fired a less-lethal projectile. Guerrero was hit by gunfire and pronounced dead at a hospital.
Before the officers got there, he called 911 threatening to kill himself and anyone who came to his door. During the call, he told the dispatcher he was hearing voices and speaking to ghosts.
Police recovered the knife and booked it into evidence.
