Leslie Lopez named  News meteorologist

Leslie Lopez has been named News meteorologist after more than a decade at 7 Los Angeles.

She has served as morning meteorologist for 7 since 2016, becoming a trusted source of weekday weather reports for Southern California. Before that, she spent several years at KUSI-TV in San Diego and KGET in Bakersfield.

“This community has meant so much to me. You’ve welcomed me into your homes, trusted me through major weather moments and even shared in my life beyond the forecast,” Leslie said.

Leslie will work closely with chief meteorologist and chief climate correspondent Ginger Zee. You’ll be able to see her on programs including “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight with David Muir.”

“Her passion for science, command of weather storytelling, and ability to connect with viewers will make her a tremendous asset to our team and to audiences across all of News’ platforms,” News senior vice president of global newsgathering Katie den Daas said in a press release.

She will be based in New York starting April 10.
