LAKEWOOD, Calif. () — A woman in Lakewood is hoping to get some answers after she says an Amazon driver stole her cat during a recent drop-off.
The incident happened at her home on Hazelbrook Avenue.
Diane Huff-Medina spoke with Eyewitness News on Sunday and shared footage from her Ring camera which shows the driver walking up and dropping off a package at her front door.
A short time later, the driver is seen apparently petting her cat named Piper.
Moments later, you can see the driver carrying the cat away.
“I thought he was just petting her for a second, but yeah … I had to rewatch it a couple of times because it is hard to see, it’s dark, and he doesn’t carry her very nicely. I see her little tail and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
Huff-Medina said the company told her that they had identified the driver, but that they’ve been unable to reach him.
She has also filed a report with the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station but was told it could be weeks – or even months – before someone can work on her case. 7 has reached out to Amazon for comment and is waiting for a response.
