Former Sex and the City star Kristen Johnston has called on Perez Hilton to “make amends” to those he has hurt following his recent hospitalization for sepsis.
“Many years ago my guts [were] basically ripped open as a result of my longterm abuse of opiates. (I wrote a whole book about it called GUTS),” Johnston, 58, wrote in since-deleted posts via Threads on Wednesday, March 25. “After I got clean, it took a long time to recover from all of it mentally & physically. I was extremely underweight for about a year, nauseous & barely able to eat. It was horrible.”
She went on, “Perez Hilton wrote the meanest s*** about me & my weight, making fun of how I looked. It led to a vicious social media pile-on by his followers, which really sucked at the time.”
The Emmy-winning Third Rock from the Sun actress explained that she was recently reminded of that difficult period when she heard Hilton, 48, had “been very sick & has found Jesus.”
“Good for him & I hope he gets healthy,” Johnston added. “However I will never forget how casually & relentlessly he’d attack women & young girls in the 2000s & how terrible it felt to be made fun of by him while I struggled through the darkest time of my life. If he’s truly changed, I hope it goes beyond words & he tries to make amends for his cruelty. I know he hurt a lot of people.”
Comedian Elayne Boosler backed up Johnston, writing, “Poor Jesus gets stuck with all these assholes.”
DJ Samantha Ronson — whose past romance with Lindsay Lohan was frequent fodder for Hilton’s news site — bluntly added, “F*** him forever.”
“How brutal. I’m sorry you went through any of that. You are so strong,” Lauren Holly chimed in.

Hilton shared on Monday, March 23, that he’d recently been hospitalized after developing an ulcer, a perforation and sepsis. The former Celebrity Big Brother star admitted in a lengthy vlog that “my stupidity landed me in the hospital” because he repeatedly took medication for a stomach flu without eating.
“People die of sepsis,” Hilton tearfully recalled. “The day before I was hospitalized, I was in so much stomach pain. I was like, ‘This is weird, but it will go away.’ The next morning, I couldn’t walk. I had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.”
Hilton eventually had laparoscopic surgery and needed an NG tube inserted from his nose to his stomach to “suck up bile.”
“Having this giant tube going from your nose to your stomach, sucking up bile, infection. I had that in me for days,” he recalled. “Not once, but twice toward the first week … I also had a foley catheter, where they insert a balloon in your bladder. So that was intense. I developed severe weakness from lying in bed for so long. Swelling of everything. I clearly lost a lot of weight. And now that I am home, I am not 100 percent. I brought the hospital with me.”
In that same video, Hilton claimed that he experienced God for the first time as he fought for his life.
“One of the most special things about this experience is that God presented himself to me,” Hilton said while fighting back tears. “It was not a feeling. God presented himself to me.”
Hilton noted that he was raised Catholic and even went to Jesuit school for seven years but never considered himself to be “a believer” until now.
“God presented himself to me and then did something, something that I could only call miraculous,” he said. “I was very lucid. It was real. This has been life-changing.”
As for his controversial past, Hilton told Sky News in 2021 that he carries “deep shame and regret” over the way he mocked Britney Spears and other celebrities back in the day.
“I can’t say I was just young and dumb,” he conceded. “I think we know a lot more 1774521716.”
